Update 3PM Thurs Jan 16 – Shipe Rd has been Postponed to February County zoning meeting
Roberts Rd – Simmons Farm
Call to Action
- Email the BZA at [email protected].
- If you are available, attend the meeting – Wed, Jan 22, 10AM in the Small Assembly Room. Parking at Dwight Kessel Garage, the Main Avenue Garage. This will be a VERY long meeting.
Points to make in to BZA:
- Tell them where you live
- Tell them what Corryton character means to you. What are important aspects or traits about the community that you value? Views of farms? Do you support local farmers and buy local produce? Wildlife?
- Tell them we – northeast Knox – were told that properties like this would be developed better because they are designated Rural Conservation
- Remind them what the plan does not include. It does not protect the best soils. It does not have a tree protection plan. It does not include a plan for how the undeveloped open space will be managed. There is no landscaping screen on Roberts Rd. No design standards to make the houses compatible with the character of the neighborhood. Lots that are not typical of the area.
- Pictures tell 1,000 words. If you have pictures of development done poorly, like on Harris / Babelay Rd or Murphy Rd – send that and tell them what developers do
The proposal for Simmons Farm has no guardrails. It could look just like Smithbilt put in for Shannon Valley Meadows on Murphy Road.
